ABOUT ME
Joanna Mieszko is known to the Szczecin audience for one of the excellent performance editions “The Act of Creation" in June 2012 at the "Kierat" Gallery of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. In this edition, the artist presented several large canvases painted with acrylic and oil, which illustrate her creative path. It leads from the human body - naked, disarmed and exposed in a metaphysical sense, and in mutual relations - through paintings inspired by Nikifor's painting method in shades of gray, black and white to urban venues, where the painterly dependencies of forms and colors transform into organic relations, with their purposefulness and dysfunctionality suggested by the effect of accumulation and realization, with their emblematic and necessary form of Jocker. New York, Paris, Lisbon, Szczecin ... somewhere, wherever and everywhere there is a city - an obvious direction of the ego's organic expansion, which draws extraordinary power from the city - it resonates well with our time, opening the field for many current questions. Nevertheless, these paintings stand on the side of the now famous interests of art, they do not yield to the ad hoc - from the spirit and lessons of the masters Nikifor and Dwurnik. Especially Dwurnik, whom he would have turned 77 in the month of his birth - April 19 - Joanna dedicated her exhibition. An interdependent figure enters the stopped narratives of urban landscapes and quasi-organic structures, and time starts moving. Stories unfold from the primordial source, which is man. Thanks to the spring presentation, we have the opportunity to observe how a new door opens in full swing, commitment, incredible energy, emotions and discipline in the artistic project of Joanna Mieszko.
